Nutmeg

Nutmeg

nutmegNutmeg (Myristica fragrans) has a sweet, warm, spicy scent similar to the spice commonly used in cooking. Soothing and stimulating, nutmeg helps boost energy.

It also supports nervous and endocrine systems and prostaglandin balance. According to Dr. Mercola, who has recently written about nutmeg in his newsletter, the spice has important bacteriacidal benefits, and has been shown to help with joint pain. Nutmeg has an approximate ORAC of 1,581,360 (TE/L). TE/L is expressed as micromole Trolox equivalent per liter. ORAC is the antioxidant capacity of a food. Spinach, for example, has an ORAC of 1,400.

Nutmeg is one of my favorite oils to use in food and drink! I like adding nutmeg to baking (great in brownies!), oatmeal, pumpkin and squash soups, and warm drinks such as tea and hot chocolate.

In diffusing, Nutmeg is one of my favorite oils to mix with other Young Living singles and blends, adding a spicy and magical undertone to the smell. Try adding Nutmeg to Valor, Release, or Sacred Mountain for a scent that soothes and stimulates your awareness to a higher level.
