What’s your favorite breakfast?

I love finding out from friends and other health care practitioners what their favorite healthy breakfast is.  Breakfast can be one of the most challenging meals for health, since most of what we are brought up eating for breakfast are among the worst, most important to avoid kinds of foods (high sugar, refined grains, dairy, etc).

The most important thing for eating a healthy breakfast (or any meal) is to plan ahead so that you have something to be excited about in the morning!  Budget enough time to make and enjoy your food.

Lately I’ve been having a fruit smoothie made of water, rasberries, avocado, spinach, walnuts, and whey protein.  Adding the avocado helps with the texture, and gives you some fat to digest.  Putting fat in your breakfast helps fill you up and since it takes longer to digest it keeps you full longer.  Other days I want hot rolled oats with butter, berries, and cinnamon.
